All rides are escorted by our
experienced staff who are all
based locally and have worked with
and ridden our horses for many
years.
Normal Riding Prices per
rider (all
riders must have some riding
experience)
- 1
hour:
£30
- 1.5 hours: £40
- 2
hours:
£50
- Hat
hire:
£1 - You may use your own
hat as long as it meets current
safety standards - PAS
015; ASTM F1163; BSEN 1384;
EN1384 and SNELL E2001
A note about footwear - the most
suitable footwear for riding is a
boot with a relatively smooth sole,
and a good heel so that it can slide
out of a stirrup easily if needed.
This means that trainers, slip-on
shoes or similar are not going to be
suitable. At a push wellies are ok,
but they are also not ideal. We are
unable to provide boots, but do have
several pairs of half chaps
available to give additional comfort
if wearing short boots.

Safari Day Rides
Explore the beautiful countryside of
Exmoor on your own live 4x4!
With no engine noise to scare them
away, you are more likely to come
across the beautiful elusive wild
deer and Exmoor ponies whilst on
your own live 4x4. An unbeatable,
breathtaking sight when you come
face-to-face with a Red Deer Stag in
the woods, or see the tiny Muntjacs
between the trees. It is not
uncommon to see large herds of Red
Deer on the open moorland, with
occasional sightings of the more
solitary Roe and Fallow Deer.
Our guided day rides or "Safaris"
explore the woods, coombes,
riversides, and wild open commons of
Exmoor. We never know what
we'll see. The rides are
exciting and challenging (but not
beyond anyone's comfort
zone!). Can be tailored for
you - eg. if you prefer the commons
to the woods please let us know
beforehand.
Our Safari Day ride routes include:-
- Visit to Tarr Steps, the
prehistoric clapper bridge
across the river Barle and lunch
at the Tarr Farm Inn, or
- Across Anstey Common with its
stunning panoramic views across
Devon to Dartmoor and on to
Molland and the London Inn for
lunch, or
- Over the hills and up the
coombes via Hawkridge to
Withypool for lunch at the Royal
Oak Inn
Maximum 6 people plus guide.
Cost:£95 per person.
Please note that because of the
shorter days, and inclement weather
we don't tend to do safari rides
during the late autumn and winter
months.
Revision Rides for Lapsed Ladies
and Gents
Not ridden for ages? One of
our experienced instructors will
take you out for a one-to-one
revision ride. We will choose a
horse to suit your level of
confidence and experience, as well
as your height and weight (please
note we do have a 14 stone weight
limit), so that you gain the most
from your return to riding.
Terrain to suit your choice and
ability; we have everything from a
grass manege (when dry) to the wild
woodland or moorland of Exmoor.
Now may be your time for you to take
back the reins, and get back in the
saddle for an alternative workout to
the gym... where else can you not
only get fit, but see some
spectacular scenery too?!
Prices start at £30 for an
hour long one-to-one escorted ride.
There are reductions for longer
rides - please see our ride prices
at the top of this page. Don't
forget as a regular rider you will
qualify for our loyalty discounts
after you have been out on 5 rides
with us.

We have a wide range of horses
and ponies to suit most abilities
and weights, but please note we do
not take absolute beginners.
All our horses are individual
characters, well mannered and
calm. They are quite used to all
types of terrain, including
crossing rivers, jumping,
forest trails and galloping across
the wide open commons of Exmoor
(they are not "riding school
plodders"!).
There are many different rides
for you to experience, from
shorter rides of an hour or more,
to day long rides. We
tailor the ride to suit you.
We are surrounded by the wild open
moorland and wooded coombes of the
Exmoor National Park, so the
choice is endless.
As you ride across Exmoor
you will see the famous Exmoor
Ponies and their foals in their
natural habitat. Born free, these
distinctive ponies have thrived on
the moors for thousands of
years.
Also likely to be seen are many
species of birds including the
skylark, with its fantastic
continuous song from high in the
sky, and possibly a Harrier, which
although rare here, is slowly
increasing in numbers.
You may well spot a herd of wild
red deer. Our largest native
deer, shy and ever alert, these
magnificent animals are often
easier to spot from
horseback. During the
rutting season you may hear the
eerie bellowing of the stags which
can echo across the moors.
From the farm we ride from our
fields to the Northmoor Forest,
where we cross the Dane's Brook
river through to the "Christmas
Tree ride". In spring we often
hear a cuckoo here. Then
climbing up through the coombes to
the moor.
The beautiful scenery and varied
terrain provide an ever changing
environment as you follow the
trail. Long gallops or
canters are often feasible.
When you return to the farm, why
not treat yourself to one of our cream
teas
which you will need to
pre-order!
