Pine Lodge Horse Riding Holidays
on Exmoor is a BHS approved
Horse Riding Establishment, based
at Higher Chilcott Farm, near
Dulverton in the the Exmoor
National Park. An often by-passed
but incredibly beautiful and
unspoilt location in West Somerset
in the South West of England.
We provide:-
We are also able to offer the
following:
The family of horses and
ponies at Higher Chilcott Farm are
a very relaxed and happy
crowd. Most of Bobbie's
horses have had a less than ideal
start to their lives. They are
given sanctuary at Pine Lodge and
time to forget their ordeals
before commencing their
careers. The time spent in
their care is reflected in their
calm behaviour and attitude to
work. Each has an individual
character, and no matter what your
ability, will provide you with a
fun and enjoyable experience
riding on Exmoor, time after time,
with caring, understanding staff.
"Dear
Bobbie
I
just wanted to say thank you
sooo much for our hack out the
other weekend. I rode Ludo and
Mike rode Camilla.
I
have to say, that we often go
riding on holidays etc and your
yard is the happiest I have ever
had the pleasure to visit.
Nothing was too much trouble and
we were welcomed by everyone and
not made to feel like outsiders
which you so often get. All your
horses were exceptionally happy
and all your staff were too, it
made such a difference. We still
talk about our ride and Mike
just had such a good time it has
reawakened his interest in
horses and riding. Ludo was just
wonderful, again a happy and
contented horse and lovely to
ride.
Susie
who escorted us, was also a lot
of fun and made sure we got the
best out of our ride and clearly
enjoyed riding with you and
shared her enthusiasm. She
also gave Mike great and sound
advice which helped him a lot.
So
as I said, I wanted to pass on
my thanks to all of you and a
big hug and virtual carrot for
the horses and ponies!! I
have also given your leaflet to
the new people running the Royal
Oak in Winsford and told them to
recommend you to others looking
for riding.
We
are planning to come down later
in the year and have already
agreed that you will be our
first activity of the holiday
:-)
Best
Wishes
Jackie
and Mike" June 2011

Higher Chilcott Farm is
the home of Bobbie and John
Bullman, who have provided
horse riding holidays on Exmoor
for many years. The farm is
also a working hill sheep farm
about 1,000 feet above sea
level. Just 5 minutes drive
west from the town of Dulverton,
the riding centre has a glorious
south facing position with
stunning views across rural
Devon. Surrounded by soft
green pastures and the wilder
heather and gorse heathland of
Exmoor, the riding is superb and
virtually road-free.
We have one self catering
holiday cottage at Pine
Lodge;
The Horses House overlooks the
yard and sleeps 6.

| Come and meet all our
animals! We have dogs and
cats, sheep, chickens, ducks, and
our most recent arrivals, a pet
pig called Gloria and Taurus the
Turkey! They are very friendly and
unusual characters. We have
our own small herd of rescued wild
Exmoor ponies living in the
steeplands that surround Higher
Chilcott Farm, allowing you a
close up experience of these
Native Ponies. |

We hope that
you will ride as much as
possible with us, but if you wish
to do other activities as well,
why not try Walking, Bird
Watching, Watersports at

Shooting,? We often hold big
family BBQs in the garden and all
our guests are welcome to join in.
With its panoramic views, rainbow
sunsets and amazing wildlife,
Exmoor is a truly magical place.
We invite you to come and
share it with us.

Just a short email to once again
thank you for the wonderful

Wednesday on our safari day

special, the horses and ride
were brilliant and the cream tea
was yummy! It is something we
would love to do again. Many
thanks to Laura for leading us
on a fantastic ride and say hi
to Camilla, Georgia and Taurus
the turkey.
Many thanks

"I had a wonderful,
excellent time. Riding in
Exmoor is like nothing I have
ever experienced in the US -
you see amazing beauty, ride
great, great horses; walk,
trot, and canter through all
of it with a really
experienced guide.
Bobbie and John and Susie gave
me one of my best riding
experiences/vacations ever!!
They are wonderful people and
made me feel wonderfully at
home - Bobbie is one helluva
cook -the whole thing was
great.
It was perfect for me, I loved
every minute of it.
The horses were great - I rode
two, Atlanta and Camilla. They
were very well mannered,
responsive, and had plenty of
energy - just great,
especially considering that my
riding skills were a bit (!)
rusty. And the horses that I
didn't ride seemed to be about
the same with those that rode
them. Responsive, calm, and
strong. The terrain was varied
and gorgeous, sometimes we
were on trails, sometimes not,
we trotted and cantered over
the moors in both sun and
mist. We saw red deer and wild
Exmoor ponies with their
foals. You have to do the
rides to appreciate it all.
I suppose the easiest way to
explain it is that I look
forward to going back there,
as soon as I can"....Maryann
McGinn, USA - 2010
